University of Toronto SAE car at Hall
|
See this award-winning student designed and built car.
Designed, fabricated, and raced by University of Toronto engineering students, this Formula SAE race car is on display at the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in Toronto.
Built as a practical engineering exercise, U of T students delved into the mechanical aspects of building a race car with the help of computer-generated software. The Honda motorcycle-powered car produces 75 horsepower, weighs about 450 pounds, and has been built in accordance with international Formula SAE rules and guidelines.
The car has been very successful in international competitions, including taking the overall winner position in a class event in England in 2003.
The car, along with many other fine examples of Canadian motorsport, is on display at the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame, a division of the Canadian Automotive Collection.
